Tv show was good but...

Posted : 16 years, 11 months ago on 5 May 2007 02:33 (A review of MASH)

I like this a lot better. It does not have the incessant laugh track that the tv show had. Alan Alda was wonderful and had the chance to develop the Hawkeye character well over a decade. But Donald Sutherland's performance is raw and crisp like the movie. It gives you a birdseye wiew of the dualistic world of the horror of war juxtaposed with the childish frivolity and madness perpetrated by the hospital staff in order to grasp what little sanity they still possess in such an environment. Not perhaps entirely realistic, but fascinating. And the football game is amazing. One of the first times somebody says the f word in a major motion picture. An awesome cast, but only Gary Burghoff got retained for the series.
If you love the show, you may have mixed feeling about this.

No! Badness!

I don't like that Simon man. He is a big meanie and makes all the singing people cry. That is bad. And I don't think that he can sing at all. Why does not somebody hit him and make him cry? Bastard man!

Ooohh errr wooops and stuff

Posted : 16 years, 11 months ago on 5 May 2007 12:55 (A review of Are You Being Served?)

This show has been on tellie for ever. Even more than the Simpsons if that is bodily possible. It is in a place called Grace Brothers department store and that is funny because in Australia there was a real place calle Grace Bros, a chain of department stores.
John Inman who played the effiminate dude Mr Humphries got a lot of the good punchlines, and some gay people didn't like how he did that but I thought he was funny. Mollie Sugden is always talking about her pussy, and that is funny even though she says it all the time. Old Mr Grace is the owner played by Harold Bennett and he has lots of sexy women working for him, even though he is way to old to take full advantage of that scenario. All the other stars are very good too. You will recognise many guest stars who come in as customers as well. A veritable who's who of English comedy. The same people who wrote this also wrote 'Allo 'Allo which is equally sophisticated in it's double entendre and toilet humour. If this isn't funny to you, you have stopped breathing without your prior knowledge.

Better than Lego

Posted : 16 years, 11 months ago on 5 May 2007 12:20 (A review of Aquarium)

This is a group from Denmark. They sing ridiculous childish anthems with adult subtext. They are one of Denmark's greatest contributions to the world, alongside blue cheese, Color Climax Corporation, and Lego. This is the first album. It is an all time classic up there with Sgt Pepper, Nevermind the Bollocks, Fear of a Black Planet and Kung Fu Fighting. It is fun to dance with your Dr. Jones or Barbie Girl to. Dum de dum de dum dum de dum de dum.
